Landschaftlich wenig beeindruckend, als Rodelbahn im Winter aber bestimmt ganz super

This restaurant is situated at 980 meters on the north flank of Dobratsch mountain near the town of Villach. It can be reached by hiking about 90 minutes from one of four basic directions: Pogoriach, Warmbad, Heilegengeist or from a parking area at about half way up the toll road that takes you to the two restaurants at the 1700 meter level parking lot.The access road(s) to the Hundsmarhof can only be driven the land owner, staff or residents.It's a pretty hike in the forest with periodic views of the valley below, surrounding mountains and the peak above.The restaurant is small but can accommodate about 20 people inside (where there is oven to warm up against in the winter) and maybe the same number outside.Periodically a special public event takes place but you'd need to read the local paper, see a flyer or hear about it from a local,... such as a micro brewery tasting weekend (at least they did before COVID). Food is fine. Usual dishes are served that you'd find at a mountain restaurant; hearty and plenty. Popular items can sell out if you arrive late.It's a pretty, sunny place to unwind after an easy hike from the outskirts of town. It's open year round but they do close for vacation in November, or at least they did. Food service ends about 5pm but drinks and jause may go beyond 6pm if the weather is good. Cash only.

Generell recht uneben, die untere Hälfte geht besser, oben hat man doch einige Schiebepassagen und viel weichen Schnee.Kein Vergleich zur Originalabfahrt, die jetzt ja idiotischerweise gesperrt ist, aber besser als zu Fuß gehen.

Nachdem die andere Seite nicht mehr befahrbar ist, wurde die alte Rodelbahn wieder aktiviert... sehr schön zu befahren wenn die Schneelage passt!
